Company Overview
Contessa Limited is an experienced, well respected and successful London underwriting agency team, which provides a unique channel for certain profitable regional UK and Irish Commercial Property business between a well-established and supportive broker base and Contessa’s London Market insurer principal, Great Lakes Reinsurance (UK) PLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Munich Reinsurance Company.
Contessa was formed in June 2002, and commenced business in January 2003. It emerged out of Holt (UK) Ltd transferring all the existing business including run off accounts. Whilst therefore a new company and business, Contessa's management and staff have long-standing and well-established connections within the London Market.
The Contessa team is comprised of:-
(i) Underwriting Management - Keith Tunstall, Andrew Rayner, Sonia Heywood, David Savage, John Murphy and Toby Sligo.
(ii) Claims Management - Peter Murray.
(iii) Technical Support - Richard Piatt.
The Contessa team has many years of experience of working in the London Market, both in Lloyd's and Company environments. Contessa currently operates from within the Lloyd's building and is situated right in the heart of the insurance sector of the City of London. This proximity to the marketplace and its excellent links to brokers enable Contessa to keep its finger right on the market pulse and to keep abreast of developments.
Contessa is authorised and regulated by the FSA (Ref. No. 308489) and currently holds Professional Indemnity insurance with a limit of £8m.
